City of Russell Special Election

City of Russell special election is March 22

A special election for the City of Russell will be held, Tuesday, March 22 to elect three city council members to fill vacant council seats on the Russell City Council. Voting will be held at the Russell Community Center on March 22 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Nomination petitions are available at the Lucas county Auditor’s office on the second floor of the Lucas County Courthouse in Chariton.

The petitions must be returned to the auditor’s office on or before Thursday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. Absentee ballots should be available at the auditor’s office by March 14.

Mayor Duane Bedford called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with the following council members present:
Corey Paige, Chris Feehan, Dana Blue and Susan Beecher. Also present were Officer Jeff Johnson, Jeremy Blue, Kevin Tanner, Mike Beaty, Cody Carroll, Chrystal Moore and Sustin Smith of Garden and Associates. Ellen Werts was present to take minutes.
Dana addressed the council.
Two council members then submitted their resignations.
The meeting adjourned due to an incomplete quorum

Museum Neighborhood Coffee


Monday, February 1 at 2 p.m., the Russell Museum/Library held its first neighborhood coffee. Time was spent visiting with snacks and door prizes. 
The next coffee will be the first Monday in March, the 7 at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome. 
Those attending were Hazel Clanin, Martha Allen, Judy Dorsey, Grace Petersen and Marilyn Yoakum.
