City of Russell
Council Meeting
January 21, 2019
Present: Duane Bedford (Mayor), Council members: Chris Feehan, Terry Newcomb, Casey DeHoedt and
City Maintenance Supervisor Jim Larrington and Cindy Smith, City Clerk.
Duane
Bedford, Mayor, called the meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m.
Duane
Bedford had attended a Lucas County Conference Board Meeting regarding the 911
budget for the county. They are in the
process of getting digital handheld radios at no cost to the fire department. It
is expected that 8 will be allocated to Chariton Fire department and 4 will be
allotted to other fire departments within the county. Recycling was also discussed at this meeting
and a new recycling trailer will be purchased with board recycling funds of $432.00
coming from capital funding and the City of Russell will add an additional
$500.00 for this purchase.
Council also
discussed further the possibility of selling our current road grader and
purchasing a used one from the county and how this could possibly work. Chris Feehan is working on this project. Jim Larrington will also be in the process of
getting what our grader would be worth.
There is a March 1st deadline on getting the project
completed.
SCICF Grant
monies were also discussed and which project the community would get the most
from. Duane is going to research on
what all needs to be done. The grant
application must be submitted by the end of the month.
The rest of
the meeting was discussing and creating a budget for the fiscal year
2019/2020. This must be finalized by March
15, 2019 and submitted to the County Auditor and the State.
