ORDINANCE NO. 144

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 6-1.0302 OF THE RUSSELL MUNICIPAL CODE TO INCREASE WATER RATES FOR THE TOWN OF RUSSELL, LUCAS COUNTY, IOWA

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF RUSSELL, IOWA:

Section 1. Purpose: The purpose of this ordinance is to

increase the charge for water per gallons used

per month under Section 6-1.0302 of the Russell

Municipal Code.

Section 2. Amendment. Section 6-1.0302(2) of Title VI of

Chapter 1 of the Russell Municipal Code is

hereby deleted and replaced with:

1. Rates

2. Meter Surcharge. Each customer with a water meter

shall pay a surcharge of $3.00 per month in addition to the

water usage charge. The surcharge will be charged to each

household. The said surcharge shall be billed and collected

with the regular billing for utility service.

Section 3. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in

conflict with the provisions of this ordinance

are hereby repealed.

Section 4. Severability. If any section, provision, or part of

this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or

unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not

affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or

any section, provision, or part thereof not

adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.

Section 5. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in effect

after its final passage, approval, and publication

as provided by law.
