Free Lunch Meals

                The Chariton Community School District invites all children ages 1-18 for a free

lunch at the Russell Library, until Friday, July 19, Monday-Friday. Lunch is available from 11:10 a.m.-11:35 a.m. Rules-All meals must be eaten on site and not taken home. Adults are not allowed to eat from children's plates Adults can purchase their own meal for $3.75.

Summer Reading Program

                Want to be Russell's Top Reader? Whoever checks out and reads the most books  in a month will get a sign in their yard and a special prize. Any school-aged child is eligible. Program ends Labor Day Weekend.  Winner will be determined at the end of each month.

            Sunday, June 30 2 p.m. The Lucas County Inter-church Council will be having an Independence Day worship service  at the Chariton square, with an ice cream social to follow.

                Wednesday, July 3,  6:30 p.m. Night Owls of Faith United Methodist Church,  Carol Swigart had the lesson and is the hostess.  All women are invited.

                Thursday, July 4, We think of July 4, 1776, as a day that represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation. But July 4, 1776  wasn't the day that the Continental Congress decided to declare independence (they did that on July 2, 1776).

                Monday, July 15 -Thursday, July 18, 6-8 p.m. Faith United Methodist Church will have Vacation Bible School. The theme is God's Power is Love.  We have great music, wonderful food, fascinating stories and fun crafts planned.  All kids from pre-K (must be potty trained) through 5th grade are invited.  See you soon!
